Two A+ exams are necessary to become A+ Certified

• CompTIA A+ Essentials, exam code 220-701 (50 A+ Questions)

CompTIA A+ Essentials (220-701)

measures the necessary competencies of an entry-level to mid IT professional with a recommended 500 hours of hands on experience in the field. It tests for technical understanding of computer technology, networking Installation and Security, as well as the communication skills now required of all entry-level to mid IT professionals.

CompTIA A+ Practical Application (220-702)

is an extension of the technical knowledge and skills identified in CompTIA A+ Essentials (220-701), with more of a hands-on approach focused on scenarios in which computer troubleshooting and network tools must be applied to resolve computer and networking problems.

• There have been four versions of the A+ exam, the 1993, 2003, 2006, and 2009 objectives, which are broken down into two separate exams.
• Over 800,000 people have earned the A+ credential worldwide, to date.
• The A+ certification along with Network+ may be used to qualify as an elective for Microsoft's MCSA and MCSE certification.
