Objectives

• Establish the minimum/maximum hardware load out of each chassis


• Given a specific environments (headcount, network speed, size) select the suitable InterSpect model.


• Troubleshooting basic hardware issues with the InterSpect appliance.


• Select the proper implementation of each mode (bridge, switch, router) into an existing network environment


• Distinguish the strengths & weaknesses of each mode in specific deployments.


• Set up and configure InterSpect using the CLI and/or Web GUI according to environmental requirements


• Select Local Management (SmartDashboard directly to InterSpect) vs. Central Management (SmartDashboard control via SmartCenter)


• Configure InterSpect for either local or centrally-managed logging according to business requirements


• Select and Execute Protection Mode options based on Monitor Mode data


• Distinguish between Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems vs. SmartDefense and Web Intelligence:


• Identify, Select and Execute Methods of Protection in InterSpect


• Identify SmartDefense and Web Intelligence protection mechanisms based on function descriptions


• Configure SmartDefense’s quarantine function to meet a specified problem scenario


• Identify the appropriate protection mechanism for common internal attacks


• Identify several of the major Protocols used on the Internet.


• Distinguish how InterSpect protects the internal network against exploits and malware associated with each protocol.
